Chamber ads stir issue in Calif. insurance commissioner's race

The California Chamber of Commerce has put out television ads worth almost $2 million to support Assemblyman Mike Villines, the Republican candidate in the state insurance commissioner's race. The campaign of Assemblyman Dave Jones, the Democratic candidate, criticized the ads, saying the ad fees were paid by insurers through the chamber. Villines' spokeswoman dismissed the criticism, adding that the GOP candidate has not coordinated with the chamber for his campaign.
