CMS: Health reform will fuel increase in health care spending

Under health reform, U.S. spending on health care will increase 6.3% annually over the next 10 years, compared with a 6.1% projected annual increase when the law was not yet passed, according to a CMS survey. The report found that reduced payments on Medicare services and doctor visits will lower spending, while coverage of Medicare patients' drugs and the increase in the number of people with insurance coverage will boost spending.
