High-fat diets may help some children with epilepsy

The high-fat ketogenic diet and a modified version of the Atkins plan may help children with difficult-to-treat absence epilepsy, researchers said. They found that the ketogenic diet provides enough protein for growth and body recovery while the modified Atkins diet can induce ketosis without limiting calories, fluids or protein.
