MTV, with help from Warner, becomes most popular music site

MTV's websites in August pushed Vevo out of the top online spot for music, attracting 53 million unique visitors, compared with Vevo's 49 million, comScore Media Metrix is reporting. MTV's surge in traffic, which increased more than two-and-half-times over the same month in 2009, is being credited to a new ad partnership with Warner Music Group, the only one of the top four music labels to not take part in Vevo. Warner, under its deal with MTV, receives a portion of sales from ads that MTV runs on its websites and with its artists' clips.
