Analysts: If deal fails, AT&T and T-Mobile's interests will diverge

AT&T and T-Mobile USA remain united in their intent to keep their $39 billion deal alive, but industry observers say their interests will diverge if the deal collapses because of government antitrust concerns. "AT&T still wants the deal to go through, but if there's no hope for it, then it's to their benefit to prolong the process," said fund manager Leon Cappaert, adding that T-Mobile's parent, Deutsche Telekom, would favor just the opposite to avoid losing more customers.
