Marijuana use is rising but meth is on the decline

About 17.4 million Americans age 12 and older reported using marijuana in 2010, an increase from only 14.4 million in 2007, according to a survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Experts pointed to regulations that allow marijuana use in some states. Meanwhile, 353,000 people 12 and older reported using methamphetamine last year, less than half as many as in 2006.
