Teen with Asperger's excels in geography

Eric van Wazer, a 15-year-old student with Asperger's syndrome, earned a spot last year in the Illinois National Geographic Geography Bee and went on to place fourth in the statewide competition. His father, who also is proficient in geography, said van Wazer's love for reading, his natural curiosity and his memory all have helped propel his interest in the subject.
