AHA: Greater attention, engagement are needed to curb pediatric obesity

An American Heart Association statement in the journal Circulation revealed that about 4% to 6% of children and adolescents in the U.S. suffer from severe obesity, and that the prevalence continues to rise. Researchers said the condition "demands attention and clinical management ... and will place a significant economic and clinical services burden on the future health care system," and they stressed that stakeholders "will need to work together to engage the growing problem of severe pediatric obesity."
