BIM, laser scanner instrumental before the build

Brian Bollins, a project executive for Choate Construction, discusses the role of building information modeling when working on a Crate and Barrel location in Georgia. "We set up a laser scanner in the raw space, and using BIM technology, created a point cloud that identified any contradictions between the architectural design and the physical space itself," Bollins explained. "A misplaced column on a plan can be a huge construction issue if not identified upfront. BIM helps to alleviate any potential issues through computer modeling."
