Calif. to replace STAR tests ahead of common core

Students in California no longer will be tested under the Standardized Testing and Reporting System. Education leaders recently announced plans to replace the STAR tests with new common-core-aligned exams. "Our need is to make a clean break from the past and begin using more assessments to help students understand what's going to be asked [of students]," said Michael Kirst, president of the California Board of Education.
