Icahn abandons campaign to take over Dell

Carl Icahn and Southeastern Asset Management said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that they have no chance of winning a key shareholder vote that would allow them to take over computer company Dell. The investors said they remain opposed to a buyout offer by Michael Dell and Silver Lake Partners and "will move to seek appraisal rights."
