Malware writers set sights on banks as new strain hits Europe

Hackers are increasingly turning their attention to the global financial industry, with security analysts at Trend Micro reporting a nearly 30% increase in malware targeting banks and their customers in the second quarter. Analysts in Europe say cybercriminals are testing a sophisticated strain of malware, dubbed Hesperbot, that uses phishing techniques to entice victims to download a malicious application that dismantles banks' two-factor authentication protection.
