New Territories give China's day-trippers a place to shop

Retail rents in Hong Kong's New Territories, which can be as low as one-tenth the rent in the city center, are on the rise as more Chinese consumers make day trips to shop. The New Territories, many of which are close to the border with mainland China, make up about 85% of Hong Kong and are largely farming villages and towns created in recent years and linked by roads and railways to accommodate the growing population.
