Practicing healthy household routines may help children shed pounds

A home-based intervention designed to promote family meals, reduce screen time and improve sleep was associated with a slight decline in children's weight, a study in the journal JAMA Pediatrics showed. Although children in the program slept nearly an hour longer and had lower TV time during the weekend than the usual care group, researchers found no changes in the number of meals eaten with the family.
