Report: Last year, airlines made $27.1 billion in ancillary fees

A new IdeaWorks report showed that airlines collected $27.1 billion last year in ancillary fees. While low-cost carriers such as Spirit and Allegiant typically charge high fees, the report found that more European carriers are adding fees. "The most aggressive airlines easily generate more than 20% of their revenues from a la carte fees," the report states.
