SmartRate program focuses on the customer, PG&E employees say

Over the past five years, Pacific Gas & Electric has enrolled 100,000 customers in its SmartRate program for critical-peak pricing, and the program's success is because its customer-facing focus, according to a case study by the Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid. "This case study highlights a trend where more and more utilities are offering demand response and time-based pricing programs to their customers," said Dan Delurey of ADS.
