Study: Resection helps patients overcome certain pulmonary tumors

Sublobar resection yields good outcomes in ground-glass opacity-dominant clinical stage IA lung adenocarcinoma, according to a study in Chest. Tumor progression was analyzed ahead of treatment in 610 patients using F-18-FDG PET/CT and high-resolution CT. The study documented 0% 30-day mortality, and three-year recurrence-free survival was 98.7% with resection, 96.4% with lobectomy and 96.1% with segmentectomy.
