Tactile communication devices could make driving easier

Tactile sensors to help people process stimuli while driving could be on the market in five years, predicts professor Lynette Jones, senior research scientist in MIT's Department of Mechanical Engineering. Sensors could be used in mobile devices or even "a wristband that presents very simple tactile pulses that indicates [users] are coming to a point where they need to turn right or left, slow down or speed up," Jones said.
