Weight control efforts not thwarted by undergoing obesity gene test

People who underwent obesity gene testing had a positive opinion about the test and reported attaining reductions in weight-related emotional stress, stigma and self-blame, according to a study in the Journal of Genetic Counseling. "The results indicate that people are unlikely to believe that genes are destiny and stop engaging with weight control once they know their FTO status," said study leader Susanne Meisel.
