Construction coalition wants reinforced concrete for safety

Construction and real estate industries must set an example for creating more stringent requirements and implementing fire- and terrorist-resistant building materials, said the head of a construction industry coalition Tuesday. Al Gerosa, president of the Concrete Alliance, said using cast-in-place reinforced concrete to build stairwells and passages not only has safety benefits but takes less time compared with structural steel.
