Suppliers unprepared for Wal-Mart's RFID goals

A new report from AMR Research finds Wal-Mart's suppliers are unprepared to meet the retailer's demands that they deliver RFID-tagged products by 2005 and that Wal-Mart has not adequately explained its vision for its RFID plans. Research suggests a typical CPG company that ships 50 million cases annually will need to spend between $13 million and $23 million to comply with with Wal-Mart's requirements and suppliers do not expect to see significant benefits.
