U.S. House approves D.C. private school voucher plan in final vote

The U.S. House passed a five-year pilot voucher program for Washington, D.C., schools with a vote of 209-208, after Rep. Ernie Fletcher, R-Ky., switched sides in favor of the proposal. The legislation would enable children in families earning no more than $34,000 a year to receive "opportunity scholarships" of up to $7,500 per student.
