The University of Texas at Dallas has ordered students to shut down private Wi-Fi networks run from their dorm rooms, arguing that those informal hotspots interfere with the university's wireless network. Students argue that only the federal government has the right to monitor the use of spectrum. Neither side is backing down, and the disagreement could presage further spats over spectrum.
