Credit market faces "pivotal test" as debt matures

Banks will more than likely push up yield premiums on corporate bonds as $140 billion of commercial paper comes due at the end of next week. The banks will be seeking to refinance the debt. "This will inevitably lead to wider corporate spreads, especially in high yield," Jim Reid, a credit strategist at Deutsche Bank, said in a note to investors.
