EU to approve biotech sugar beet

European Union ministers this month are expected to approve a biotech sugar beet variety, known as H7-1, developed by Monsanto Co. and German firm KWS SAAT AG to resist glyphosate-containing herbicides. Nine other biotech crops, including corn, cotton, soybean and potato, are expected to be discussed in the next few months.
