Travel agents survive, thrive by offering personal touch

Although most travelers could purchase their airfare and make hotel reservations and other travel arrangements through the Internet, many prefer to tap into the expertise and personal advice of a travel agent. This trend has allowed agents to thrive at a time when many thought technology would be their downfall. According to a report from ASTA, agents continue to book more than half of all airline tickets, most cruises, tours and packages, and a significant amount of hotel rooms and car rentals.
