Say your teenage son steals a car, or your daughter becomes anorexic. If you're a business leader, you carry on. But if you've gone into politics, your children's misdeeds become your own. Where's the justice in that? "Business leaders, like politicians, are meant to be examples to the people they lead," says columnist Lucy Kellaway. "If they cannot even marshal a couple of schoolkids at home, why should one allow them to lead thousands of workers?"
