Meat slicers at Maple Leaf not to blame for outbreak, maker says

A Formax spokesman said its meat-slicing machines are safe if used properly and not to blame for a listeria outbreak at Maple Leaf Foods that caused 14 deaths. Listeria may have accumulated deep in the machines, beyond the reach of normal cleaning procedures, said a Maple Leaf spokesman.
