Report: Federal bridge-repair program needs overhaul

According to a Government Accountability Office report, the federal bridge-repair program needs to be overhauled to more clearly define which bridges can qualify for federal funds. The Highway Bridge Program provided more than $4 billion to states last year, but the report found many bridges being repaired were in rural areas rather than major cities. Some officials recommend bridges that have the most traffic should take top priority for repairs.
