Studies present new techniques to fight MRSA

British researchers found that a new kind of paint containing particles of titanium oxide can kill methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus when it absorbs ultraviolet light. Another group of U.K. scientists used a green dye that emits toxic molecules when exposed to near-infrared light to kill 99% of MRSA in infected wounds. The two studies were presented at the Society for General Microbiology Autumn Meeting in Dublin, Ireland.
