Workers' comp rates poised to fall in North Carolina

Workers' compensation rates in North Carolina might fall an average of 4.4% next year, the first drop in five years. The N.C. Rate Bureau, which represents more than 150 workers' compensation insurers in the state, filed for the decrease Aug. 29. Kristin Milam, a spokeswoman for the state's insurance department, said the filing is being reviewed to "see if a further decrease is warranted."
