Group urges U.S. leadership on climate change during G-20 summit

The U.S. should show decisiveness at the upcoming Group of 20 summit in Pittsburgh and lead efforts to unite world leaders to prepare for climate change, said Nancy Birdsall, president of the Washington-based Center for Global Development. Heads of state must look beyond the economic crisis and address this issue because of its effect on the poor, she added. G-20 leaders should agree in Pittsburgh on measures to carry out a climate treaty ahead of the next meeting in Seoul, South Korea.
