Kraft plans to cut its supplier list in half

Kraft Foods plans to cut its strategic supplier list by more than half to save money in a competitive environment. The company's 70,000 suppliers will have to compete along with other companies making bids for Kraft's business. "We'll select those that offer sustained competitive advantage and who can grow with us," Kraft CFO Tim McLevish said.
