Light Sport Aircraft reaches 100-model milestone

Van's RV-12 became the 100th Light Sport Aircraft model when it was approved in July. Of the first 100 models, most are still available, proof that the industry is robust and small manufacturers can do well with as few as 30 sales annually, says Dan Johnson, chairman of the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association.
