Pa. group seeks $99M stimulus grant for statewide net

The Pennsylvania Research and Education Network said it had applied for $99 million in federal broadband-stimulus funds to build and operate a statewide network aimed at providing education and health care services that would serve about 5 million people and 200,000 companies that are without broadband service. The coalition includes higher-education institutions as well as health care and economic-development groups.
