San Francisco officials expect cost savings on roadway project

Officials expect bids on a San Francisco roadway project to come in about 20% below original estimates because of the economic downturn. The $1 billion project to rebuild Doyle Drive, a roadway to the Golden Gate Bridge, includes building a new viaduct close to the the bridge and boring a tunnel along the drive.
