Capitol Hill's clock is running out on LGBT bills

With Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., still objecting to consideration of a bill containing a mechanism for repealing the military's ban on gay troops, it's unclear if the issue will be resolved before the midterm elections. Senators return from recess next week, but they're set to leave town again in early October, and Democratic leaders already have a lot on their plates. The tight schedule could make it extremely difficult to bring up other LGBT priorities, such as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
