Analyst: Data scientists reap the benefits of Big Data push

Global spending on data analytics technology and services will grow by a compound annual growth rate of about 30% through 2018, according to a new report by ABI Research. The firm estimates that half of the $31 billion companies will spend this year on Big Data will go to paying the salaries of data scientists. "What we're now seeing is quite significant overspending on salaries, as organizations turn to data scientists and other specialists in order to leverage Big Data in the first place," said analyst Aapo Markkanen.
