Apple expands iPhone 5 line; no surprises revealed

Apple introduced two new versions of its popular iPhone 5 smartphone on Tuesday, the $200 "5S," and its first ever low-cost "C" version at $99, a model similar to the current iPhone 5 except for its polycarbonate case and choice of five colors. As expected, Apple's flagship 5S sports no major changes but features a faster processor and fingerprint-scanning technology that will serve two purposes: unlock the phone and verify purchases at the iTunes store. Apple will not provide developers with technology to authenticate their third-party applications. Apple introduced the 5C in China but priced the new model as a top-end device.
