Case studies show supporting teachers aids common core implementation

A recent report includes case studies on the implementation of the Common Core State Standards from three perspectives -- a state, a school district and a technical-assistance provider, education reporter Catherine Gewertz writes in this blog post. The case studies in the report "share a few themes, and they have to do with accomplishing change by collaborating with and supporting teachers, rather than dictating to them," Gewertz writes, adding that the report also suggests there is more room for flexibility among teachers' instructional approaches under common core than is suggested by critics.
