High yields, low volatility attract investors to non-traded REITs

This year, non-traded real estate investment trusts are expected to raise $18 billion, 42% more than the $10.3 billion they brought in during 2012. For many investors, the strong yields and minimal volatility are more than enough to make up for high up-front fees and the lack of liquidity.
