Insurance status does not appear to affect physician care

The amount of time primary care physicians spend with safety-net and uninsured patients was not significantly different than that spent with privately insured patients, according to a study in Health Affairs. Researchers said doctors spend an average of 18 minutes per patient and conduct longer assessments with new patients and those with more severe conditions no matter their type of coverage.
