The Jefferson County, Ky., school board voted Monday to allow students at eight high schools to use their cellphones on campus. The vote exempts the schools from an existing policy barring students from using cellphones at school; it now allows them to use the devices for educational purposes. Officials said that individual schools will determine how the devices are used.
