Nursing students witness lapses in infection control protocols

Of 488 student nurses who participated in a survey about infection prevention and control, 373 said they observed senior health staff members not washing hands between patient contacts, while 300 reported the wearing of rings other than wedding rings. The findings, published in the American Journal of Infection Control, provide insight into the examples being set for students and show areas where ward managers can improve their work, researchers said.
