OIG calls on CMS to set hospice recertification frequency

An HHS Office of Inspector General report based on surveys of more than 2,000 hospices showed some had not been recertified for as long as six years. The OIG called on the CMS to set recertification time limits. While state rates varied, the percentage of facilities that had not been recertified in six years exceeded 50% in California as well as Idaho and Oklahoma.
