Selling down is key to maximizing hotel revenue

Travel agents can provide the best hotel experience for clients -- and get a solid revenue boost in the process -- by offering room rates from the top down, a number of hospitality executives said. "Agents can be very successful by selling down. The luxury traveler does want the best deal, but not necessarily the cheapest price," said Rick Stiffler, Preferred Hotel Group's vice president of leisure sales.
