Slideshow: 150-ton "Mackenzie" borer digs 3-mile Cleveland tunnel

"Mackenzie," a 150-ton tunnel-boring machine, has completed a three-mile tunnel for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District's Euclid Creek Tunnel project. The borer -- with a 27-foot-diameter cutter head -- was lifted out of the exit shaft on Cleveland's East side. Installation of precast concrete panels for the tunnel walls will follow.
