Study: Amino acid arginine may be effective against type 2 diabetes

In experiments using mice, the amino acid arginine, found in salmon, eggs and nuts, was shown to have potential in treating type 2 diabetes, according to a study by the University of Copenhagen in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati, published in the journal Endocrinology. Both insulin-sensitive and insulin-resistant mice improved their glucose metabolism significantly using the amino acid, researchers said.
