Study examines risk factors for readmission after plastic surgery

Procedure type, obesity and anemia, as well as major medical, surgical or wound complications are independent predictors for readmission in plastic surgery patients, a study in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery found. Readmission rates were six times higher with surgical complications than without. Of the 10,669 patients studied, the overall readmission rate was 4.5%.
