NASA cuts funding for life sciences research

NASA is cutting funding for its life sciences project and using the funds to develop a new generation of spaceships. The cuts mean the new Space Life Sciences Lab at Kennedy Space Center could be used for other purposes. The lab now houses experiments, including one that involves using plants in long space flights to produce food and oxygen and recycle waste.
